Electronic Arts (EA) has canceled major changes to the game’s battle pass system after an intense backlash from Apex Legends players. Player complaints about the changes to be made in Season 22 caused EA to reconsider this decision and the planned changes were canceled.
Apex Legends Battle Pass canceled after player backlash
With Season 22 of Apex Legends, two $10 battle passes were planned to be offered for each season. Also, the ability for players to purchase premium battle passes with Apex Coins, the game’s virtual currency, would be removed. However, these changes were met with a huge backlash from players.
EA announced that it has changed these plans, taking into account the feedback from players. The company said, “You spoke, we listened,” and announced that with Season 22, premium battle passes will once again be available for 950 Apex Coins. EA acknowledged that these changes could have been handled better and acknowledged their mistakes.
Apex Legends’ current battle pass system covers 110 levels for the entire season. However, in the future, each season will include two battle passes and will consist of 60 levels each. With the start of Season 22, the first premium battle pass can be unlocked by completing “simple in-game missions”. With the second split, premium battle passes will be available for 950 Apex Coins.
EA promised to provide more timely, transparent and consistent communication to players. They also emphasized that cheaters, game stability and quality of life updates are priorities. A number of improvements will be made in Season 22 that will increase the stability of the game and include bug fixes.
EA expressed its gratitude to players, noting that their passion and time played a huge role in making Apex Legends the success it is today. On August 5th, Patch Notes will be released detailing the improvements and bug fixes for Season 22.
